Migrating Data from ImageAXS™ to Thumbs Up Exporting Data from ImageAXS™ Using ImageAXS Pro v 4.1, select File>Export>CSV Text to export fields and metadata to a CVS (Comma Separated Values) text file. Caution: ImageAXS will not run properly on any Microsoft OS beyond NT. Using the ImageAXS sample database, the exported data, when opened in Excel, looks like this: ![]() Please note the cell selected in Excel above (value= 08dm.jpg, which is the file name). Whether you use ImageAXS or Microsoft Access to export the data, you can use the "Autoattach" feature of Thumbs Up to recreate the path of each image file, recreate a high quality thumbnail, and reacquire all metadata associated with the image. Using Microsoft Access ImageAXS is written with Microsoft Access. Open the .mdb file using Microsoft Access. Even though ImageAXS will not run properly on any Microsoft OS beyond NT, you can still use Microsoft Access 2000 running under Windows 2000 to do this. If you take this approach, upon opening the data file you will see the 12 tables that ImageAXS uses (9 if you use Access 97): (to be added) If you open the IaxData table, one of 12 tables in the Image AXS database, you will see something like the following: (to be added) Importing Data into Thumbs Up™ Save the Excel spreadsheet of your data as a tab-delimited file. You must import the ImageAXS Data so that the file name, column 12 in the spreadsheet above, is imported into field 1 of Thumbs Up. You can do this in Excel by cutting and pasting the column so it becomes column 1, or in Thumbs Up you can set this column to be the first column with the Import Tool in the Master Collection. Using the Import Tool, you can also choose where to place the other fields, and can even move them later with the Enterprise version utilities, such as "Copy Field..." Once you have imported the data, you can use the AutoAttach utility to point to the parent folder of all the images to have Thumbs Up locate all of the filenames appearing in field one and rebuild the paths to these files, along with recreating metadata such as image size, date created, date modified, etc. We recommend using a general "Images" parent folder, containing a Thumbs, NetRes, and HiRes folder, so that you can have High Resolution, Screen Resolution (or what we refer to as network or web resolution), as well as Thumbnails (if needed) that all have the same name, but different resolutions. If your ImageAXS files are in the medium resolution range, averaging say 800 x 600, place them in the NetRes folder and point to this folder when you run AutoAttach NetRes. |
